Why is it so challenging to find a camera bag for a woman?

The camera bag I currently have is a Crumpler bag, I believe it’s the 3 million dollar home.  I bought it a long time ago when I only used one lens.  It has lasted for years, so it definitely does it’s job.  However, it is not practical for what I need and want in a camera bag anymore.

What I Am Looking For In a Camera Bag

  • Looks like a purse…fashionable!
  • Made of quality material
  • Carries my usual purse needs: iPhone (easy access pocket), wallet, keys, lip gloss (at a minimum) and pen, sunglasses, tiny makeup case, bluetooth headset, point & shoot, plus a bit of extra room just in case (at a maximum)
  • Protects but allows easy access to my Nikon D90 with a lens on it
  • Holds and protects 1-2 extra lenses
  • Fastens on top to prevent thieves
  • Shoulder strap so I can wear it while I do photoshoots
  • Not too heavy so I hurt myself…distributes weight evenly
  • Weather-resistant in case of rain, wind, sand, or surf (would love for it to be a good travel bag as well) but this is not a deal-breaker

Of course, this decision to get a camera bag comes a bit too late for my birthday wishlist.  My birthday is in less than a week!

I will be posting some things I find over the next few days.  Any suggestions?

Happy New Year!
I didn’t want to do a year review, but 2010 was a fun year. It wasn’t as groundbreaking for me as 2009 was, but I made two huge discoveries and had a great time along the way. I fully decided that I didn’t want to go back to school at this point in my life. I took a course last semester and while I loved thinking about science again, I did not like being in school again. I also finally realized my true friends and I am working on cutting out the rest, or as much as I can. I also took some really fun trips with my sweets. Oh and I fell even more in love with him.
I have a really good feeling about this year. 2011 is a prime number and I love those! I’ve made a few goals for next year mostly relating to my career life and personal growth. I’m extremely happy in my relationship and I can’t think of anything I’d want to change about it. I want to have a happy remedy for when days are not going well to cheer myself up.
The Goals for 2011
Complete Dale Carnegie Training completed 5/2/2011
Find a career in the sciences
Start a photography business completed 4/1/2011 (official launch) and 5/15/2011 (first gig)
Go to Disney World completed 2/15/2011
Read 12 books
Make daily exercise a habit
Travel to a new place completed 11/05 - 11/09/2011
Cry less completed by 2012
Cook a real dinner once a week completed by 2012
Make new friends
Get 7 hours of sleep every night completed by 2012

    Week 6 Day 1

I’m pleased any day I go out running now. It was cooler yesterday so I thought it would be easier but my running doesn’t seem to be getting better. I really am a beginner, and I’m really slow!

    1. Warm-Up
    2. Ran 14 minutes
    3. Walked the rest of the two miles
    4. Stretched

    Week 5 Day 1

So I worked a lot of hours all weekend (Thursday to Monday) and today was the first day I was able to go running since last week!  I was able to do pilates on Friday instead of running…I know this is not how I will get in enough training for the 4-miler, which is in 3 weeks and 2 days.  But it has also cooled down a bit here and I hope to be able to run every other day until the big day!  Today felt like a really good run for me.  I had to keep pushing myself to continue though.  I would set a little goal, like run to that hedge there, and then run to that street.  So, it was pretty successful doing that.

    1. Stretched
    2. Ran/walked 2 miles in 25 minutes, running 68% of the time
    3. Stretched

    Week 4 Day 1

Today was a pretty good day for a run.  I am now getting ready for work, but I thought I should post a quick update!

    1. Warm-up
    2. Alternating run/walk 30 min
    3. Stretched

I have now plotted out a 4 mile path in my neighborhood and tomorrow my boyfriend and I are going to be running it (okay so I’ll be walking most of it, but he will probably run it).

    Week 1 Day 3

    1. Warm-up (stretched + walked 5 min)
    2. Jogged 12 min
    3. Walked 6 min
    4. Stretched

I think I could have gone for longer today, however it was way too hot.  I’m going to have to start getting up earlier until it gets cooler here.  I shouldn’t complain because I know lots of places are getting too cold, and I definitely wouldn’t run then, but still.

P.S. I registered for the run I’m doing, the Gobble Gobble 4-miler, today as well.

    Week 1 Day 2

    1. Stretched
    2. Walked 5 min
    3. Jogged/Ran 12 min
    4. Walked 10 min
    5. Stretched

Today’s workout really really wiped me out because I alternated between jogging and running.  It was also hot and humid, BUT no excuses!  I still think it was a good start and I got to wear all my new stuff!
