Hello readers!
I am excited to tell you about my exercise class last night. The first group fitness class I’ve taken in ages. I’m not sure why it’s been so long, maybe a little bit of fear, money, or “being too busy.” But I know everyone will always tell you the hardest part is getting started. I normally work out by myself, I normally do a lot of stuff by myself, but now is the time to expand. I want to make more friends and I want to change more lives and the only way to do that is to meet more people. You never know who they will turn out to be.
So yesterday I was a bit hungover and felt awful, but I had already signed up to go to this class. I almost went straight home after work, but I told myself that if I didn’t go today I would never go. So I went! It was called Barre Motion, and incorporates yoga moves, pilates moves, and ballet moves into a cardio routine. I got there early, greeted the instructor and her dog (super cute bulldog!) and started stretching. The other women were really nice and fun. The class was a bit intense! It was good, but I wasn’t prepared for it. I had to stop about 10-15 minutes before it was over. Everybody was really nice about it and tried to make me feel okay for doing that. I was actually okay with it. I wasn’t embarrassed or anything, it was a very welcoming environment and I will be going back.
I’m glad I convinced myself to go even though I wasn’t feeling so good. It’s funny how I’m only just now getting sore 18 hours after it finished. I’ll probably go for a walk tonight after work.
P.S. It’s funny how over 10 years after my last ballet class, everybody always knows I used to do ballet. It’s in my posture and my movements without me even realizing it. I love that!
I finally got my Tumblr updated for 2012! It’s been on my to-do list for a while. January was a total wash towards my goals. Work has been so busy! I was sick for two weeks and had absolutely no interest in doing anything after work other than sleep. And then my fiance was in a car accident, he was okay but couldn’t drive or go to work for two weeks, so that set me back as well. I know I shouldn’t have excuses, but the month just flew by me. I’m back on track this month.
Happy New Year! The year 2011 started off with a lot of potential. See my list of goals for 2011 by clicking here. Now that we are at the end, there were some very low lows and very high highs. I tackled fear after fear, started a business, and got engaged.
Travel: We started the year off by going to Disney. Then had a quick trip to Tampa to watch Team USA soccer and go to MOSI. Jesse took a trip by himself to Milwuakee and I took a trip by myself to St. Louis for my college roommate’s wedding. We both travelled somewhere new when we went to Puerto Rico and had a beautiful time!
Photography: I started a business!! I’ve even had a few clients. I have not had as much time to work on the business as I thought I would, but it’s still really fun and I’m so proud I haven’t given up. I also rediscovered shooting film and hope to incorporate this into my professional work next year.
Fear Fighting: As many of you know, I am a shy person. I don’t like to talk about myself nor do I like to talk in front of people. It is because of this fear that I decided to take a local Dale Carnegie course. The first week I cried! Yet I still returned and completed the 12 week course to get a certificate in Human Relations and Effective Communications. It was super scary every week, but I did improve and still apply things I’ve learned. I have used this strength I found to apply to other times when I’ve been scared this year…like kayaking at night in Puerto Rico to see the bioluminescent bay. I overcame my fear and thoroughly enjoyed myself!
Relationship: After another magical year, Jesse and I got engaged! He has been amazing this year, as always, with his never-ending love and support. He always knows what to say and is so much fun to be around. I am definitely the luckiest girl in the world!
Other Events of Distinction: I got my ears pierced! I found a new favorite book: Game of Thrones. I got a promotion at work! I started cooking meals at least once a week. I no longer purchase frozen meals to eat for lunch. I’ve started eating healthier. I dont go into my shell as often and I am much happier!
While there were a lot of great things that happened this year, I think 2012 is going to be even better! Make it a great one!
My 2012 Goals
Last week I did something I was too scared to do ten years ago…pierced my ears. My mom put in place a rule when we were younger that we were not allowed to get our ears pierced until we turned 16. When I turned 16 I never even thought about it. The following year my sister turned 14 and she talked my mom into getting it done. I went with her but I wasn’t convinced for myself.
It never really occurred to me and no one ever noticed so I figured I didn’t need to. But I wanted to do it for the last year or so, but I had scared myself by waiting so long. This year I have been combatting fear after fear so after we got back from Puerto Rico (where I also faced some fears) I just decided to go for it!
I don’t know why I was scared but there was no reason to be. I feel like I have to retrain myself to do things (like shower) but it isn’t much different. I can’t wait to wear new earrings!!!!!
How do you go to one of these? Do you have to be press? Or can anyone go?
I haven’t updated you in a while! I’m sorry. I’m still cooking and trying to exercise a little each day. Work has been crazy. I’ve been waiting to hear from a potential new job. And I’ve been swimming in the beautiful pool almost every weekend! I will try to keep you updated a little better!
How do you get yourself to exercise when you feel gross? Even though you know you will feel better if you do?
Loving Care Photography
I have been working on this for a while. I officially launched it last month. And did a giveaway at the Facebook page to celebrate. I had my first photo gig this past weekend, so I feel able to tell you all about it and officially cross it off my list. Hopefully you enjoy it!
I want to do lifestyle, family, children, and dog photography, but I’m still finding the right niche for my area.
I am going to be making a photo blog, but am still working on setting it up. In the meantime you can check out my website or check out my facebook page!
Let me know what you think! :D
Meal 12/52: Penne with turkey sausage and vodka sauce.
Yum! This is an easy meal but the first one that I came up with all on my own without a recipe! It came out really well with a little crushed red pepper and a dash of chili powder. The last few weeks I’ve made things I have already cooked (sesame-crusted tilapia, pizza), so I didn’t take any pictures.
